Financial Responsibility
As a patient of North Star Psychiatry & Wellness, you are responsible for any portion of your visit not covered by insurance, including copayments, coinsurance, deductibles, and any services determined to be non-covered by your plan. We will make a good-faith effort to verify your benefits before your first visit, but coverage details are ultimately determined by your insurance carrier.
Credit Card on File
To streamline billing and reduce delays, North Star requires a valid credit or debit card to be kept securely on file for all patients. This card may be charged for:
- Copayments and coinsurance due at the time of service
- Any remaining balance after your insurance has processed a claim
- Missed appointment or late cancellation fees, per our cancellation policy
Card information is stored securely through our practice management system and is not accessible to office staff in full, in accordance with payment card industry (PCI) security standards.
Missed Appointments & Late Cancellations
Appointments canceled with less than 48 hours' notice, or missed without notice, may be subject to a fee charged to the card on file. This helps us keep appointment times available for all patients.
Self-Pay & Uninsured Patients
If you are uninsured or choose to self-pay, you are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before your visit, in accordance with the No Surprises Act. See our No Surprises Act page for details.
Billing Questions & Disputes
If you have a question about a charge, believe there has been a billing error, or need to update your payment method, please contact our office directly. We're happy to walk through any charge with you.
